LLC Formation Costs

Publication requirements for starting an LLC

In the sources we checked, Arizona, Nebraska and New York require publication when you start an LLC. In every other state we found no such step. The newspaper charges are set by the papers, so the figures below are only the state’s own part.

Arizona

Publication: a notice runs three times within 60 days unless the statutory agent is in a county of more than 800,000 people, where the Commission posts it instead.

State-side year-1 total, without newspaper charges: $50.

Nebraska

Publication: a notice runs for three weeks in a local legal newspaper, then proof is filed for $25 online ($30 in office).

State-side year-1 total, without newspaper charges: $125.

New York

Publication: within 120 days, a notice runs for six weeks in two county newspapers (the papers set their own charges), then a Certificate of Publication is filed for $50.

State-side year-1 total, without newspaper charges: $275.

Mainstay Filing, our pick, passes state fees through at cost and shows them before you pay.
